Dear Inklings,
We ruminated on the question of what home means in this discussion. Afterwards, I wanted to write about it some more, especially as it’s been a number of years since I’ve been able to “return” to my home country of Taiwan. I still don’t know when we’ll be able to go again.
In today’s letter, I reflect on bits of my cultural background, including the losses of having grown up in America, and posit the question: What makes an identity and at what point do labels put us back in a box?
